The Genesis of Concentrated Care. 

After three decades of clinical practice, founders Betty and John observed a persistent gap in dermatological care: traditional moisturizers often prioritize volume over potency. By reviewing hundreds of standard formulations, they identified a need for a product that bypasses the "filler" and delivers clinically proven ingredients at impactful concentrations.

The Six-Ingredient Mandate.

Mighty Dab was engineered with a philosophy of "essentialism." By developing a 100% water-free (anhydrous) formula, we have concentrated the skin-moisturizing components into their most potent form. We have intentionally omitted volatile fragrances and complex preservatives, ensuring that every molecule serves a purpose: to relieve skin discomfort and restore the natural lipid barrier.

Because this formula is anhydrous, a small amount carries immense hydration potential. Its name is a reflection of its efficiency—a singular, potent application that leaves a transformative impression on the skin's texture and resilience. 

Specifically developed for active lifestyles, this anhydrous formula contains no added water, directly delivering a concentrated blend of moisturizing actives to weathered skin. High altitudes, chlorinated water, desert climates and in-flight cabin air are just some examples of skin barrier insult.

Respecting the skin’s natural healing processes.

Healthy skin is self-regulating and naturally retains moisture. Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMF) present in the skin help retain this native moisture. They also promote barrier integrity, preventing excessive skin moisture loss.

In contrast to many conventional moisturizers, water is often listed as the primary ingredient, sometimes comprising up to 90% of the formulation. 

mighty dab™ incorporates a clinically proven active, glycerin, as the central ingredient. Clinical studies have demonstrated the benefits of high concentrations of glycerin for both moisturization and barrier repair function. Formulators, however, are often challenged with the sticky, sappy feel of this NMF, and refrain from utilizing this active to its potential in formulations, despite the plethora of evidence supporting its benefits. The cost constraints of formulation production also present another factor driving the ubiquity of water-dominant emulsions. 

Ultimately, is water a good substitute, when it dilutes the formulation and has the potential to compromise skin barrier integrity by fluidizing the skin barrier lipids?

As a Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF), glycerin can retain its own weight in water. It also restores the lipid structure of the stratum corneum, the outermost skin barrier, to improve barrier integrity and reduce moisture vapor loss. This natural process takes time, coupled with daily application.

One ounce of mighty dab™ equates to as much as 20 ounces of a standard water-based formulation*, considering the concentrated glycerin content alone.

mighty dab™ is crafted in small batches and hand-packed in our Silicon Valley lab.

A pearl-sized dab covers 40 square inches of skin – for instance, two cheeks, the decolletage, or one shin. With up to 300 dabs per 30-gram tube, mighty dab™ is distinctively non-greasy and designed to spread effortlessly over dry or rough skin patches.

Water-free formula.

mighty dab™ is formulated without water. Water is the medium for microbial growth.

In the absence of water, the anhydrous formulation does not feed microbial growth and may exist free of added preservatives.

The concentrated formulation enables increased doses of the two leading ingredients glycerin and butylene glycol, both of which bond to water molecules, locking onto your natural skin moisture. 

The unique sensory properties are achieved by the inclusion of the 4 supporting ingredients that emulsify the skin hydrating components to produce a non-greasy, elegant skin balm.
